Help your plants settle in

Good care is mostly rhythm: the right light, careful watering, and small adjustments as your home changes through the seasons.

Most indoor plants prefer bright indirect light. Keep tender leaves away from harsh midday sun, especially close to south-facing windows.

Check the top layer of soil before watering. Many plants prefer a short dry pause instead of sitting in constantly wet soil.

Grouped plants create a softer microclimate. Calatheas and other thin-leaf plants usually appreciate steadier humidity.

Repot when roots fill the pot or water runs through too quickly. Choose a pot only slightly larger than the current one.

Dust blocks light. Wipe broad leaves with a soft damp cloth so the plant can breathe and photosynthesize well.

Let a new plant adjust before moving it repeatedly. Pick a stable spot, watch the soil, and avoid heavy feeding right away.
